Superbikes Star Chris Gets New Home From Home
Even a superbike star known as the “fans’ favourite” needs a relaxing bolthole on race and practice days.
British superbike star Chris Walker is no different, which is why Mick Cantrell, sales manager of Brownhills Motorhomes in Newark, has just handed him the keys to a brand new C-I 694 motorhome sponsored by C-I Motorhomes and Brownhills.
As part of his sponsorship deal, Chris will be sporting the C-I and Brownhills logos of his leathers and T-shirts, giving them great exposure on the circuit and in the many television and press interviews he gives as a result of his popularity.
The season started at Brands Hatch Indy circuit over the Easter weekend with Chris finishing 10 equal in the riders’ table – and will end there with the last of the of the 12 championship races over the GP circuit on the weekend of October 7 to 9.
Chris started as a motocross rider before joining the superbike circuit in 1996. He finished the 1997season 2nd, a place he retained until the 2000 series, when he was given a wildcard entry to world superbikes, coming second in the Donington Park race and third at Brands Hatch.
Chris’s success continued in the world superbike series. Between 2002 and 2006 there was only one year when he wasn’t in the top 10 riders – he was 11th in 2004 - and in 2006 he took the chequered flag in one race.
A return to British superbikes in 2007 saw Chris finish the season 7th. He was 9th overall in 2009 and 10th last year.
Kawasaki rider Chris lives in Lincolnshire, home county of C-I in the UK, and has a long association with Brownhills Motorhomes.
“We regard him as our local race hero and know what an important contribution it is to his success to have somewhere he can relax before and after races or practice sessions,” said Mick Cantrell. “Fans love to visit the paddock, so the C-I will be a very visible part of race days.”
Scott Stephens, general sales and marketing manager for C-I in the UK, said it was unlikely any C-I logo had travelled as fast as it would with Chris but the many pictures published and interviews given by him would let it pause long enough to be visible.
“There can hardly be a better way to build awareness among racers and supporters. Many like to spend whole weekends at meetings in their motorhomes and Chris’s endorsement speaks volumes for our brand.”
Chris said his Carioca 694 would give plenty of comfortable relaxation space.
“The concentration needed for races or practice means you need to be focused before you go out on the circuit and my new C-I will be perfect for that,” he added.
C-I is Home From Home For Superbikes Star
What could become the fastest-ever motorhome badge in the world will soon be circulating the race tracks of Britain.
British superbike rider Chris Walker is being sponsored by C-I during 2011 and will have a Carioca 694 motorhome parked in the paddock of all race and practice sessions during the 2011 season.
The sponsorship has been arranged in conjunction with Brownhills, which has four C-I dealerships across the UK, and the firm’s logo, along with that for C-I, will feature on both shoulders of Chris’s leathers as well as on team T-shirts.

“The invitation to support Chris Walker was too good to miss and we are more than happy to be involved with his 2011 season,” said Scott Stephens, UK general sales and marketing manager for C-I and Roller Team motorhomes.
“Our logo on Chris’s shoulders puts us in pole position among sponsors. His popularity with fans makes him a frequent post-race television interviewee and his action shots regularly appear in the motorcycling press.”
Chris said he was looking forward to the 2011 season, with his Carioca 694 providing plenty of comfortable relaxation space.
“It’s important before a race or practice session that you are in the right frame of mind and having somewhere to collect your thoughts and focus on the ride ahead is a vital part of preparation,” he added. “The C-I 694 has a generous living area and I’m going to enjoy having one as a home from home during 2011.”

Carioca's 707 Takes off in Motorhome Awards
There can hardly be a better contender for the title "Family Motorhome of the Year" than the Carioca 707.
Built on the Fiat Ducato, Europe's best-selling motorhome base vehicle, the 707 has seven belted seats amd seven berths, making ideal for larger families or groups of friends who like to travel together.
So it's hardly surprising that the panel judging the MMM Motorhome of the Year awards has named it their family motorhome for 2011.
The judges said: "A tough category, but at £38,500 the C-I hits the spot for both value and layout. There's a full seven berths with travel seats to match. The big overcab bed can be used by adults and because of the layout can be accessed even when the lounge beds are made up. You can put small kids to bed at night - in the bunks at the very rear of the van - and still relax in the lounge. Handily, the lower bunk can be flipped up to create storage for bulky items. A large, practical, great-value, family motorhome."
As well as the twin bunk beds and double bed over the cab, the 707 has a further double in the centre living area and a further single bed opposite. On the offside of the vehicle is a kitchen, with a spacious shower room opposite, alongside a wardrobe.
There are ample extra storage lockers at head height along with each side of the body.
"There's a wide choice of motorhomes with plenty of sleeping berths, although seven is still a rarity," says Scott Stephens, General Sales and Marketing Manager for Auto-Trail, the UK agent of C-I and its sister Roller Team brands.
"But what sets the Carioca, and its Auto-Roller 707 sister model, apart is that everyone who sleeps in the vehicle can also travel in it during the day because they have use of a fully belted seat.
"Often, motorhomes have more sleeping and seating space than usable travel seats and for many owners this is fine. But for owners wanting to carry passengers, the choice is much more limited.
"The 707 offers a perfect combination and eliminates the need for people in the holiday group to travel separately or take the unacceptable risk of travelling in an unrestrained seat, which places them and their fellow passengers in great danger should there be an accident.
"It's seldom that a motorhome has better lived up to a description of it, but the 707 fulfils the family motorhome role with pride, and at affordable prices, too."
Visit stand 3160 at the NEC in February to judge the C-I and Roller Team motorhomes on display. They will also feature at shows around the UK throughout the year and the extensive dealer network has display models available.
